One thing I have done since our daughter's graduation besides work is read. My favorite author is James Patterson. I just finished his latest book called "Swimsuit". WOW he did it again, he never ceases to amaze me. I always try to figure out who did it, and he always has a good twist so I never have figured it out! I am always surprised with the ending. If you like mysteries and police investigation type stories he is the one. Now if I could only get paid to read!

Long Time

Wow, where has the last year gone? I can tell you, our youngest daughter graduated high school this year! So this last year has been busy with all the last "firsts". First day of school, last homecoming dance last time to see her cheer, etc.

What a year it has been. Fund raising for her Senior Night Party. This is a great idea in our community. The parents hold fund raisers to provide a safe and alcohol-free place for the graduates to get together one last time before going off to college. It was a lot of hard work but it was worth it. There was plenty of entertainment, games and prizes.

College is looming in the near future for her, but now what do I do with my time? Hopefully, I will think of something soon!

My Granddaughters Quilt

It has been quite awhile since I have had a chance to update my blog. I have added some new links. Here is the big surprise I was working on at Christmas time. I found this Eeyore cross stitch quilt kit. It was perfect for the new baby. I wish I could say it was my design but it is a quilt kit by Janlynn. Janlynn projects can be found at various stores carrying craft projects and there a lot of different projects to choose from. The project was a lot of work but I sure am proud of it.

Wow I don't know about anyone else but I sure have been busy. Almost all projects were completed and in the mail on time. I have one to go but I have been busy setting up a new business. Wow! Thanksgiving is over. What a great day spent with family. My Christmas tree is up, the lights are on the house and most of the Christmas cards are done and ready to mail. Now all I have to do is finish my Christmas presents that I am making instead of buying. Bring it on I can do this!! Happy Holidays!

Bedroom Curtains

I have heard that some people would like to know how I make my curtains. When I made my bedroom curtains I was a day sleeper so these were made double thickness. I just picked out the material in a print and a matching solid color. When I sewed them together I started with what looked like a pillowcase with "right sides" facing, these are tab top curtains so I found burlap to use as the tabs and cut strips to the size I wanted and ran a seam up each side so they would fray but not too much. Then I just sewed them in place. Yes that as a tree branch that I used as a curtain rod! The hangers are wrought iron plant hangers that they rest on. I also made a comforter to match the curtains. I told you I liked southwest design! I found everything I needed to make the curtains at the fabric department at Wal-Mart.

I have the day at home to myself and my dogs. So I have time to work on my many projects and my blog. I can't believe next week is Thanksgiving. Wow time sure does fly.

I have found over the years that finding curtains for my house is a problem. My husband and I love Southwestern Decor, but try to find it. I have found that if I go to WalMart I can find Southwest printed material and I design my own curtains. I have made curtains for every room in my house and what makes it better is they are just right because I made them custom ordered!

So Many Crafts So Little Time

I am working away on the quilt, but as I sit there I think of all the other things I would like to do. I have pillow case projects, an idea for pillows to take on the road, towels, more photo albums, the list goes on! Now if I only had the time! Oh yea I have to work full time and get ready for the holidays! Does anyone else out there feel my pain? Keep on crafting!

What a day!

Wow, we survived Halloween, but work was another story! Glad that part of today is over. Now it is on to parent teacher conferences, will the fun ever stop?

My husband and I have found the fun of working with iron-on transfers, we are in the middle of a special project for our daughters cheer leading squad. It is a surprise so I can't go into it now but I will have pictures later.

The possibilities with iron-on transfers seem endless. We will see what lies ahead.

Another Day

Still working on my blog site and trying to live with a 16 year old female and 2 very high strung dogs. Bella is the only one that doesn't realize she weighs 3 pounds! She barks and growls like she is a doberman protecting her house. Lucy is still very shy and hides when company comes, Halloween should be great fun when you consider all the strangers and the teenager running in and out. No crafts tomorrow night. This quilt may get done before Christmas. Talk to you soon!

Busy

I didn't get to the computer or my crafts yesterday. We had a large tree in our front yard we had to have taken down so the day was spent clearing away the brush. Today it is back to the quilt I am making for my newest granddaughter who was born on October 10.

It is a beautiful stamped cross stitch design. Once I get that project finished it is on to the next one. I am also decorating flour sack towels for Christmas gifts.

When I am not doing that I am always on the look out for southwest designs to make and use as decoration for my home.

I am in need of a good source for yarn. One of my daughters has been wanting a sweater and I just can't seem to find the right yarn. Any suggestions?

I have found that I enjoy making photo albums and matching baby quilts for friends and family. I raid the remanents bin at WalMart which helps but there is a great fabric store close to me that I can spend hours in looking for the perfect print to meet the personality or decor that the family has chosen and turn it into a very simple patch work quilt.

I have a pretty busy life and I just remembered before I can get back to the quilt I need to give the two family dogs a bath. After years of avoiding it my husband and I gave in to our 16 year old and let her get a chihuahua puppy that her sister adopted for her from an animal rescue society. I started reading about chihuahuas and saw picture of a long-haired chihuahua and decided I wanted one. One thing lead to another and our son-in-law looked all over and found me the most adorable 8 week old long-haired chihuahua. Lucy is our daughters dog and Bella is mine, I didn't realize how quickly these little dogs would worm their way into our hearts. Lucy and Bella run the show now! Gotta go, but I will be back! Maybe someday I will get back to my collection of James Patterson novels that I love, but at least now his series the "Women's Murder Club" is on TV and I can catch that.

Learning the game

Here I am blogging for the first time. I work as an Emergency Services dispatcher and in my "spare time" I crochet, cross stitch, work with tube paints and make decorative photo albums for all occasions. I have 3 grown children and one daughter at home who is a junior in high school.
